So I managed to use up most of my 500 gb hdd. So it's time for an upgarde (Actually, it's just an excuse. I could free up all the useless crap lol) I'm looking into getting a 1TB hdd. At least 7200rpm and 32MB cache. My local comp store has some options. Hitachi 1TB Deskstar HD31000Seagate 1TB BarracudaWestern Digital 1TB Caviar BlackI'm leaning towards the Caviar Black. But I'm still not sure which brand is better. I'm willing to even order online, and spend up to $200. Any suggestions?

I use Caviar Black. 640 GB main HDD and 1 TB backup HDD. Order from ZipZoomFly.com. I think they have better packaging for hard drives.

No one else seemed to comment on using up 500 megs of hdd space. Am I the only one who thinks this is ludicrous? Downloading tons of movies, mbear?

Easily done without movies, I keep everything on a 4TB RAID5 NAS Code: peno@peno:~> df -h Filesystem Size Used Avail Use% Mounted on /dev/hda1 71G 27G 41G 40% / 10.10.0.10:/nfs/mp3s 2.7T 722G 2.0T 27% /mnt/mp3 10.10.0.10:/nfs/backup 2.7T 722G 2.0T 27% /mnt/backup 10.10.0.10:/nfs/Apps 2.7T 722G 2.0T 27% /mnt/apps 10.10.0.10:/nfs/Stuff 2.7T 722G 2.0T 27% /mnt/stuff
Go for the Black edition drives. They're super kick ass.

Haha.. funny thing is, all my movies and music are on an external hard drive. I bought 2 1TB Black Caviars today so I can set up Raid0. I'll spend all day backing up/reinstalling everything. I can't wait

Good choice. I've bought Western Digital Caviars for years now and they haven't failed me. Good products
